We believe that the most effective way to achieve this purpose is through the adoption of a thematic, integrated, truth content-based approach to teaching and learning.Â The curriculum embodying this approach will be spiral in nature.Â The same concepts and skills will be taught across the levels of learning, only with increasing levels of involvement and superiority as the learner ascends.The following features characterize the proposed Hebrew language curriculum and set it apart and above current curricula adopted in similar teaching/learning contexts:Students following this curriculum learn truth content-related information while acquiring proper language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.Â The emphasis on teaching correct language for ascension purposes entails the development of correct thinking skills.Â It is for this reason that the IILS curriculum, in addition to promoting the development of conventional skills, has also emphasized the development of Genesis perspective.The IILS curriculum attempts to develop native-like proficiency in the Hebrew language.Â More specifically, it stresses both accuracy and fluency in that order.Â Learning the new FOCUS approach to grammar will thus be essential for all levels. The FOCUS method develops basic communicative competence in the Hebrew language.Â Fluency develops naturally as a result of exposure to proper linguistic models and commitment to consistent practice.The IILS curriculum has set realistic, achievable objectives that the Kingdom trained teacher/material writer can relate to.Â Furthermore, these objectives have been illustrated with samples of clear, measurable performance tasks that can be easily implemented in the classroom.Language will be presented to students in its proper Divine cultural context.Â Language learning will start with universal themes.Â The purpose of this is to develop cross-cultural openness, awareness, and understanding while strengthening Kingdom self-awareness.The IILS curriculum highlights the role of group work in the development of communicative language skills.Â It thus stresses the need for the creation of an interactive classroom environment.Â Many of the objectives and performance tasks included in the curriculum call for pair and group work in line with the cooperative learning model of classroom interaction.Finally, the curriculum emphasizes the development of proper study skills which will help students develop into independent learners.In summary, the curriculum incorporates a system of language dedication/education based on rote learning and linguistic correctness with a system that promotes autonomous learning, thinking skills, and communicative competence.
